Helen B. Goodlin Competition

This event is open to any teacher whose student is a resident of San Diego County.

The H. B. Goodlin Scholarship Competition annually awards monetary prizes to outstanding young San Diego County musicians. Talented instrumentalists and keyboardists (organists and pianists) audition before three judges in the spring at Cuyamaca College.

Applicants must be residents of San Diego County for at least one year prior to the preliminary audition date. The teacher does NOT have to be a member of MTAC. First and second prizes, encouragement awards, and honorary mentions are given.

Funds for the ongoing scholarship competition were made available in 1993 when Helen B. Goodlin donated a significant amount of money for scholarships to young musicians, to be coordinated by the Music Teachers’ Association of California, San Diego Branch. The Goodlin funds are managed by The San Diego Foundation.
